A 17-year-old girl reportedly took her own life on Thursday in Aarey, Goregaon East, by leaping from the 23rd floor of the Oberoi Square complex. Initial investigations indicate that no suicide note was discovered in her residence. The Aarey police have filed an accidental death report regarding this incident. Disturbingly, this marks the fourth suicide occurrence in this building complex within the past six months.
Authorities have disclosed that the young girl had been struggling with depression and was receiving treatment. She resided on the 23rd floor of the C Wing of the Oberoi building and was a Class 11 student, with her father employed in the construction sector.
On the afternoon of the incident, she was studying in her bedroom while her mother and grandparents were present at home, and her father had stepped out for work. Around 3:30 p.m., she allegedly jumped from her bedroom window. Family members shared that she had been dealing with depression for several years and was under care at Ambani Hospital.
The Oberoi complex has drawn considerable attention due to the alarming rise in suicide cases among its residents. Over the last six months, four such incidents have been reported from various buildings within the complex.
In a previous case, a 22-year-old named Anant Dwivedi reportedly died by suicide after jumping from the 45th floor of the Oberoi E-Square building last month. Additionally, on May 28, 2025, another 17-year-old schoolgirl also jumped to her death from the same complex's 45th floor.
